Resolution, HDMI connection as well as dependability and reliability are among the main points for a gaming monitor. Of course, size is important too, although not as important as the rest.
To truly understand gaming monitors, one must remember that size is measured from top corner to bottom opposite corner. In addition, resolution is measured with the width first and height second. So the number 1920 X 1080 would be 1920 pixels across and 1080 pixels high. This is for widescreen monitors, which are the best monitors for gaming. A Couple Of Points Concerning Monitors in General
As mentioned above, there are various parts to choosing the right monitor for gaming. For example, the millisecond rating is how fast the screen with refresh each pixel, while the refresh rating overall is how fast the screen will refresh while receiving input. So if the game is outputting to the screen with a refresh rate of 60 Hertz, then the overall screen will refresh every 60 cycles, while each pixel will every X milliseconds.
What is important about this technical jargon is that the milliseconds do not really matter as much as the overall refresh rate which range between 60 Hertz to 120 Hertz with the higher number the better.
All of this brings us to the discussion of contrast ratio. What the contrast ratio means is the range of brightness from the lightest color, (white) to the darkest color (black). Typically the higher the ratio the better the color range.
However, there is a huge caveat to the contrast ratio. There is no clear standard set by any organization as to the specific ratings to determine a contrast ratio. So each manufacturer pretty much sets their own standard for what is their method for creating the contrast ratio number.
Also this number is dynamic and many manufacturers refer to their contrast ratio as dynamic in the literature. So, while the higher the number the better, it should be taken as the manufacturers opinion and not indicative of actual use.
